Processed Output
Edit a simple path while Vextra shows the finished shape.
Vextra processes every path it creates or manages. There is no effect to apply and no setting to switch on.
The Path You Edit
Vextra draws the source contour with its nodes, handles, Smart Corner controls, G2 marks, and loop shapes. This is the path you edit.
The Shape Illustrator Shows
Illustrator paints the processed result, which Vextra builds in this order:
- Round the live Smart Corners.
- Build the live G2 tangent shapes.
- Clean the intended loops.
Illustrator then applies the fill, stroke, opacity, and other appearance settings as usual.
Why the Two Shapes Differ
A Smart Corner keeps one sharp source node and shows a rounded corner.
A Scissors loop keeps its crossing source lines and shows a single clean meeting point.
A live G2 tangent keeps its node mark and shows a smoother curve.
The value of the split is that the simple source stays easy to edit while Vextra builds the harder finished shape for you.
See Only the Finished Shape
Hold backtick, and Vextra hides every node, handle, guide, measurement, and help card. Release backtick to continue editing.
Updates Are Immediate
The finished shape updates as soon as you move a node, edit a handle, draw with the Pencil, copy a path part, break or join a contour, or change a Smart Corner.
Live Vextra settings travel with the artwork when you save, reopen, copy, paste, or duplicate it.
Expand Selection
Select one or more live G2 or Smart Corner features and choose Expand Selection.
Vextra turns those results into normal nodes and leaves the other live features live.
Expand Contour
With no live feature selected, choose Expand Contour to turn the full processed contour into normal path geometry.
Send Artwork to Someone Without Vextra
Keep one live master document for your own edits.
For delivery, make a copy and expand the selection or contour you need. The copy then carries ordinary Illustrator nodes and no longer depends on the live Vextra controls.
Undo
An expand command is one Illustrator undo step, so Command-Z / Ctrl-Z brings the live version straight back.
See G2 Continuity, Smart Corners, and Scissors for the live controls.
