Panel & Tools
Learn what each part of the Vexy Vextra panel does.
Open the panel with Window → Vexy Vextra. It docks with other Illustrator panels and follows Illustrator's theme and UI size.
Tool Row
The top row holds the six tools:
- Vextra Editor — select and edit nodes, handles, segments, G2 joins, Smart Corners, and Tunni controls.
- Eraser — remove points or clean up extra nodes.
- Optimizer — simplify one part of a contour.
- Knife — add nodes or break a contour.
- Scissors — build loops and join or extend contours.
- Correcting Pencil — draw new paths or redraw part of a path.
One Vextra tool is active at a time. All six buttons appear off while another Illustrator tool is active; click any of them to take over.
The same six tools appear in Illustrator's toolbar setup.
Helper Row
The second row holds:
- Smart Guides — show and snap matching node or handle positions.
- Nudge — adjust nearby handles when nodes move.
- Power Nudge — spread a move through a larger part of the contour.
- Tunni Lines — show curve tension controls.
- Quick Help — show a small help card beside the current action.
Nudge and Power Nudge are mutually exclusive.
Measurement Row
The third row holds Stems, Distances, Corners, Quick Measurement, and Curvature.
These options only draw information; they never change the path. See Measurements & Overlays.
Command Rows
The two bottom rows hold:
- Break, Join, Duplicate, Smart Corner, Simplify, and Nodes at Extremes.
- Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical, Align Horizontal, Align Vertical, and Remove Overlap.
- Autotrace, at the far right, whenever an image is active.
See Contour Commands for details.
