Preferences & Updates

Set how Vextra looks and works, check for updates, and view product details.

Open the hamburger menu in the Vexy Vextra panel. Vextra keeps your choices after you quit Illustrator.

Expand Selection or Contour

The first command follows your selection:

  • Expand Selection — turn the selected live features into normal nodes.
  • Expand Contour — turn the full processed contour into normal nodes.

See Processed Output.

Show Tunni Tension

Prints whole-number tension values beside a hovered or active Tunni control.

Show Colorful Nodes

Adds color to the node types. Node shapes carry the type on their own when this is off.

Show All Handles

Shows every handle.

Turn it off to show handles near selected and hovered nodes only. Vextra makes those handles easier to reach and holds them visible for a moment.

Show Hovered Position

Shows the coordinates of the node under the pointer.

Accent Color

Sets the color Vextra uses for selected nodes, handles, and active controls:

  • Use Layer Color — follow the active Illustrator layer color.
  • Blue.
  • Cyan.
  • Green.
  • Amber.
  • Orange.
  • Red.
  • Purple.

With the layer color, Vextra changes along with the Illustrator layer.

Node Size

Choose Small, Medium, or Large.

Nodes also shrink as you zoom out, which keeps busy paths readable.

Double-Click to Activate Path

On by default: double-click another path or image to activate it.

Turn it off for one-click activation. Vextra checks the current path first either way, so clicks on its nodes, handles, segments, and controls keep their usual jobs.

Pencil can Edit Path

On: the Correcting Pencil joins open ends and redraws part of the active path.

Off: Pencil strokes create separate contours. Control-drag / Ctrl-drag skips path editing for a single stroke.

Reset Settings

Reset Settings returns Vextra to:

  • Smart Guides on.
  • Nudge and Power Nudge off.
  • Tunni Lines off.
  • Curvature on.
  • Stems, Distances, Corners, and Quick Measurement off.
  • Show Tunni Tension on.
  • Show Colorful Nodes off.
  • Show All Handles on.
  • Show Hovered Position on.
  • Medium nodes.
  • Blue accent color.
  • Double-click activation.
  • Pencil path editing on.
  • Quick Help off.

Check for Updates

Choose Check for Updates… to look for a newer Vextra release. Vextra also checks periodically.

An update asks Illustrator to quit. On macOS it asks for an administrator password; on Windows the updater handles the installed plug-in folder.

License

The panel footer shows the current license state, such as Trial or Licensed. Click it to open the license manager.

The panel menu also offers:

  • Manage License… — activate Vextra or view the current status.
  • Check License — validate the license now.
  • Pass Account… — open the Vextra account page.
  • Buy or Renew… — open the purchase or renewal page.
  • Deactivate This Mac… or Deactivate This PC… — release the activation from this computer.

Vextra works offline until the reconnect date shown in the panel. Connect to the Internet and choose Check License before that date if automatic validation has not finished.

On macOS, the license manager offers Browser / Offline Activation… before activation and Browser / Offline Refresh… afterwards. Both can use the browser on the same Mac, or move a .flreq request and .fllic response through another computer. See Installation for the full instructions.
