Measurements & Overlays
Check distances, angles, curvature, coordinates, and node types on the canvas.
The measurement row holds five display buttons. They show information and never change the path.
Stems
Turn on Stems to show stem links across the active shape. Vextra draws them with soft gray lines and labels, so the path stays easy to read.
Stem recognition scales to the width and height of the active artwork, so a small icon and a large illustration each use tolerances suited to their own size.
Distances
Turn on Distances to show horizontal and vertical distances, rounded to whole numbers.
When two labels would overlap, Vextra moves the later label and its line aside. This keeps rectangles and other regular shapes readable.
Corners
Turn on Corners to show corner angles.
Most corners get an arc and a whole-number angle. A true right angle gets a square corner mark instead of a 90° label.
Quick Measurement
Turn on Quick Measurement for information that follows the pointer. It updates as you move the mouse, with no clicking required.
Curvature
Turn on Curvature to see how strongly the path bends.
The shaded preview follows the processed Vextra shape, including live G2 joins, Smart Corners, and cleaned loops.
Hovered Position
Turn on Show Hovered Position in the panel menu, and Vextra prints the node coordinates just outside the node or its G2 mark.
Node Shapes
Node shapes carry the node type:
- Round — smooth.
- Square — sharp.
- Triangle — tangent.
- Ribbon — open end.
- Outer mark — live G2.
Right angles and significant high or low points have a stronger fill, and other nodes have a lighter center.
Turn on Show Colorful Nodes to add color to the distinction.
Other Highlights
- Selected segments are red.
- A point on a segment marks where the Editor, Knife, or Optimizer will act.
- A hovered node grows.
- A red diamond marks two neighboring nodes sitting in the same spot.
Handles
Turn on Show All Handles to see every handle.
With it off, Vextra shows handles around selected and hovered nodes, makes them easier to reach, and holds them visible for a moment after the pointer leaves the node.
Hide Everything for a Moment
Hold backtick to hide all Vextra overlays, and release it to bring them back.
For curve tension values, see Tunni Lines.
