String Art Fill

Optimized chords connecting pins around a circular boundary.

String Art imagines pins around a circle larger than the selected bounds. It repeatedly chooses chords that best reduce the remaining darkness in the source. Overlapping lines build the image like physical thread on a pin board.

Controls

  • Thickness changes thread weight and how quickly chords build density.
  • Spacing changes pin spacing and the search/detail balance.
  • Angle has little effect on the circular pin system.
  • Organic introduces controlled variation into chord segments.

Try Thickness 4–8, Spacing 14–24, Organic 0.

Color

Static mode resembles traditional single-thread string art. Dynamic Color samples chord sections from the source, producing multicolored thread.

Performance

String Art performs an iterative chord search and can be one of the heavier modes. Larger artwork and dense settings need more time. Increase Spacing while exploring and reserve the densest version for final output.

Centered portraits and isolated subjects usually work best.
