Contour Fill

Enclosed tonal boundaries in static mode and sampled color regions in Dynamic Color.

Contour groups nearby source values into connected regions. Its static and Dynamic Color results intentionally have different visual roles: static mode emphasizes contour boundaries, while Dynamic Color builds filled compound regions sampled from the source.

Controls

  • Thickness controls boundary weight. In Dynamic Color it also closes small seams between neighboring regions.
  • Spacing controls analysis scale and the amount of regional detail.
  • Angle does not meaningfully rotate image-derived contours.
  • Organic roughens and softens otherwise computed region boundaries.

Start with Thickness 3–6, Spacing 12–20, Organic 0.

Dynamic Color

Enable Dynamic Color for posterized color shapes. Use low Thickness for nearly borderless adjacent regions; increase it if tiny gaps appear at screen preview sizes.

Tips

Contour benefits from clear tonal separation. If a soft source produces many vague regions, simplify its appearance below the effect or increase Spacing. High Organic values can make already complex boundaries unnecessarily dense.

Contour is useful for topographic aesthetics, bold posters, simplified portraits, and screen-print-inspired color regions.
