Properties Overview
The Properties panel is where you adjust whatever you've got selected. Click a fill, layer, group, mask, mesh, source image, or the document itself, and the panel shows the settings that apply to it.
Some of these change the artwork directly. Others change how a fill reads the source image, how the workspace looks, or how the file gets exported.
What you can adjust
The settings fall into a few areas:
- Opacity and color — transparency, plus static or dynamic fill color.
- Stroke settings — thickness, dashes, caps, emboss, and overlap behavior.
- Transform and arrangement — move, resize, rotate, align, and reorder objects.
- Image response — which range of tones in the source image drives the selected fill.
- View and document — workspace display, units, document size, and resolution.
Using the panel
- Select something on the canvas or in the Layers panel.
- Open the Properties panel.
- Change one setting at a time and watch the canvas.
For fills, the settings you'll usually touch first are Interval, Stroke Thickness, Image & Signal, and Color — pattern density, stroke weight, tonal response, and appearance.
A note on tuning
Make a big change first so you can see what a setting actually does, then dial it in with smaller steps. If nothing seems to happen, make sure you've got the right object selected and that the fill's signal is reading the part of the image you think it is.
